Steven Newburry of Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene in Goshen, Indiana, passed away in his sleep 25 June while serving on a Work & Witness trip in Ecuador.

He was a part of a small team about to begin work constructing a building for a new church in Veracruz when he passed away.

Despite the tragedy, the team decided to stay for the duration of the trip but opted to work on the seminary grounds in Quito, Ecuador, instead.

Newburry was a father, a grandfather, and a friend to many.

“If you are not a little afraid then you’re really not living,” Steven Newburry posted on Facebook just a few days before his passing. “My advice to everyone: Embrace your fears, trust in God, and with no regrets, LIVE.”

Prayer is requested for the Newburry and Crossroads Community Church families.

More information will be posted as it is made available.
